6 Months in Brazil

It's hard to believe that this week marked 6 months since we arrived in Brazil. It's amazing how much has changed in our lives and how we've somehow adjusted to it all, though it's of course still an ongoing process. It would have been fun to go out and celebrate the milestone, but unfortunately, this week we've both been feeling sick. I got the cold first and it really hit me hard. I wound up having to spend several days just taking it easy to recover. Now that I'm finally feeling a lot better, Jeyson took over being the sick one. So, it's been a slower week for us but we still did manage to take a few pictures.

Here's 2 quick pictures taken at the hangar....

Our friend Paulo cleaning a plane's engine after maintenance.

Jeyson talking to another missionary, Emersson, before practicing different kinds of landings on the runway. Jeyson took off and landed as if the runway were short, as if it were a soft field (grass or dirt), as if there were an emergency and the flaps stopped working on the plane. These are especially important skills for missionary flying since runways are rarely long and paved.

Even though we weren't feeling too well, we still had the couples get together at our house and it went really well for the second week. It has been great to study the Bible and discuss marriage with others facing many of same things as us. It has reminded us how important it is to intentionally invest in our relationship.
Well I'm going to keep this post short today and I'll fill you in more next week. This week we are really excited for an event that our mission is going to have. Steve Saint, the son of the missionary pilot Nate Saint (The End of the Spear), is going to be in the area for a conference about reaching out to indigenous people. During his time nearby he is going to come to our mission base for a breakfast and share with us. We're really looking forward to hearing from him especially since his father's testimony is what helped spark Jeyson's interest in missionary aviation. We'll take some pictures and tell you all about it!
